Romantic Things to Do in Port Stephens

Port Stephens is made for romance, but not in a forced kind of way.

It is more sunrise coffee, salt on your skin, seafood by the water, quiet beach walks, full moons over the bay and finding places where you can actually hear each other talk.

Whether you are planning a couples stay, proposal, elopement, anniversary or simply a weekend away, here are a few beautiful ways to spend time together.

Wake up for sunrise

At Fifty Five, sunrise is one of the main events.

Make coffee, stay wrapped in linen a little longer, or step onto the deck and watch the bay slowly change colour. It is simple, but it sets the tone for the whole day.

Swim, paddle or wander

Start the morning with a swim, take the kayaks or SUPs out, or wander along Sunrise Beach before the day warms up.

There is no need to make it complicated. The best romantic stays are often the ones with the least rushing.

Take a sunset picnic to Sunset Beach

Pack cheese, something cold to drink and a blanket, then head to Sunset Beach as the day begins to soften.

This is one of the easiest and loveliest ways to spend an evening in Soldiers Point.

Book a special dinner

For a special meal, consider Rick Stein at Bannisters, waterfront dining at The Deck, or one of the restaurants around Soldiers Point, Salamander Bay, Nelson Bay or Shoal Bay.

If you want something with a little more atmosphere, you could also look at Atmos or Shoal Bay Country Club.

Get out on the water

A dolphin cruise, whale watching tour, sailing charter or ferry trip can be a beautiful way to see more of Port Stephens.

You could look into local dolphin experiences through Dolphin Swim Australia or browse local cruise operators depending on the season.

Plan the proposal

If you are thinking of proposing, Fifty Five gives you a private waterfront setting with sunrise, moonlight, beach walks and quiet corners that feel personal.

You can keep it simple on the deck, wander down to the sand, or plan something more styled with help from local suppliers.

Stay in

Some nights are better at home. Cook seafood, open wine, sit outside, watch the moon rise over the bay and enjoy the rare luxury of having nowhere else to be.
